FAQs

  • Quite simply, you get to experience the best parts of multi-day off-highway cycling without having to spend thousands of dollars on bikepacking bags and camping gear you may never use again.

On top of that you’ll be treated to scrumptious meals every day - no dehydrated meals-in-a-bag around here.

And you’ll be safe while riding with our Wilderness First Aid Certified guides on the road with you for every pedal stroke.

  • Click over to either ‘The Gravel Ranch” or “Taste The Foothills’ and reserve your spot. Fill out the application form, pay your deposit , and our guides will review your application to ensure your skills and fitness match the tour profile. If the guides are concerned about your fitness to participate, we will contact you asap.

  • Since we do our best to find “off the beaten path” routes for our adventures, we’d recommend a gravel/all road bike or a modern hardtail, XC mountain bike.

We insist on a minimum tire width of 42m and plenty of low gears.

We also have rental bikes for use on our tours. Rental bikes are outfitted with bags to carry your daily gear, water, first aid kit, and bike repair kit.

Email us at hello@wildroseadventures.com if you have any questions about your current setup.

  • At WRA we pride ourselves on offering wholesome, delicious, satisfying food. After all, it is the fuel that keeps us on the road. Generous portions, with a focus on locally sourced when possible, you’ll be well fed and watered on one of our tours.

Please indicate when signing up if you have specific food needs or food allergies, we’ll make sure you’re well fed and safe.

  • There is a famous Scandinavian proverb - “There Is No Such Thing As Bad Weather, Just Bad Clothing Choices”.

Weather in Southern Alberta can swing wildly across all conditions in the course of one day - especially in the mountains and foothills. Being prepared is important, this is why we insist you carry rain gear on your bike. Bar ‘force majeure’ and/or dangerous conditions, Tours will always go ahead. WRA guides will make informed calls on a day-to-day basis and tweak and/or substitute routes if necessary to ensure you have a great time. Remember, you’re naturally waterproof!

  • Yes! Solo adventures welcome. We’ll make sure you have a great time and we’ll be sure to sort accommodations so you’re comfortable.

  • Yes! We have everything you need to spend time in the wilderness. Tents, sleeping systems, bikes, and are available to rent on our tours. After you’ve booked your trip head over to ‘Gear Rentals’ and reserve items you need.

  • Unfortunately not. Our tours are only guaranteed to go ahead once we have received enough bookings to meet our minimum group size. As soon as we guarantee a tour, we will inform all clients currently booked on it.

  • Yes, we do. We want to keep our tour prices as low as possible, so we spread the large fixed costs involved over the entire group. We therefore need a minimum number of bookings to cover some of these costs before we can run a tour. Critically, we design our tours to offer a great social experience to riders, and believe it is more enjoyable when a group of 5-10 adventurers are riding and socializing together. As per our booking conditions, we will make a final decision weather to cancel or guarantee a tour a minimum of six weeks before the departure date. In most cases we will cancel/postpone a tour earlier than six weeks before if we know bookings are low.

  • The nature of the places we ride means that WRA routes are designed to be challenging. Challenging given the terrain and altitude of Southern Alberta but accessible in the distances we ride each day. You should expect to be cycling between 3-5hrs per day with an overall daily average of around 15KPH - including stops for snacks, photos, lunches, and swims.

  • No! Well, it depends on how soon your planned trip is, but we do offer the opportunity to secure your place with a deposit. You will be expected to finalize the balance no later than 4 weeks before the trip.

  • If you are traveling to the start of a tour with WRA staff we can stop by a liquor store and/or cannabis retailer where your can purchase your personal supplies.

  • An appropriate ebike would be fun on one of our tours, with some important considerations.

    • We’d recommend your battery be at least 500wh

    • We’d suggest your tire width be between 50mm and 75mm

    • You must bring your own charger and bringing a second battery (if you own one) could be useful
